Yes. The AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer is very simple to use. AirMagnet WiFi's AirWISE® engine is an intelligent Wi-Fi analysis engine that detects and explains events that can impact performance, security, or compliance. AirWISE® translates its analysis sessions for non- RF experts into alarms with detailed explanations of each event, including why they are important and problem-solving techniques or policy recommendations. With AirWISE®, AirMagnet WiFi users can quickly detect and diagnose any wireless problem.
AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer monitors the 802.11a/b/g/n band and the US Public Safety 4.9GHz band (Based on the supported adapter).
AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer automatically detects and alerts users of dozens of wireless intrusions, penetration attempts and hacking strategies including Rogue Devices, Denial of Service attacks, Dictionary Attacks, Faked APs, RF Jamming, and many more. This includes the ability to detect and identify the use of various "stumbler" tools which may indicate an unauthorized user attempting to snoop your network and can also detect security configuration vulnerabilities.
AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer automatically detects and alerts users of channel and device overloading problems, problematic traffic patterns, excessive bandwidth usage, 802.11e issues, IEEE 802.11g and 802.11n issues, RF regulatory violations, device resets, and many more.
AirMagnet provides detailed compliance reports for a variety of regulatory standards including Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II, EU-CRD (Cad 3), ISO 27001, FISMA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, DoD 8100.2, and GLBA. Reports provide a step-by-step pass/fail assessment of each section of the standard. As a result, IT staff can take the guess work out of compliance audits and complete their work in a fraction of the time.
AirMagnet enables technicians at different locations to share live sessions between two WiFi analyzers so both users can analyze and discuss the same data.
AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer users can be notified of any security or performance violation by email, SMS via email, page over phone, page over Internet, syslog and sound messages.
AP's implementing 802.11d will broadcast the country ISO code in certain wireless frames to help tune devices to meet the channel (frequency) and power requirements of the country the device is being implemented in. The client in turn, will adjust its frequency, power levels, etc. AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer decodes 802.11d traffic and displays specific 802.11d information for every device.
802.11h is used to resolve interference issues due to use of 802.11a devices in locations with radars and medical devices due to restrictions placed by a few regulatory bodies. 802.11h introduces two concepts:
- Dynamic frequency selection (DFS) to detect devices operating in a certain channel and automatically switch the wireless network to another channel.
- Transmit power control (TPC) to reduce the RF output power of each wireless device to a level that minimizes interference, but still maintains satisfactory network performance.
AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer decodes 802.11h traffic and displays specific 802.11h information for every device.
The 4.9 GHz Public Safety Band offers an interference-free operating environment for public safety broadband communications limited to protection of life, health and property. AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer PRO users can monitor the band, detect security and performance issues and use a suite of troubleshooting tools to solve problems in the band. Users need to use an AirMagnet supported 4.9 GHz wireless adapter for this feature (Refer to Specification for the list of supported 4.9 GHz wireless adapter). AirMagnet's GPS Tool allows you to find the exact location of a device that AirMagnet has detected. You need to have a GPS device connected to the laptop in order to use this utility.
AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer PRO integrates with the AirMagnet Spectrum XT, AirMagnet Spectrum Analyzer, Fluke Networks AnalyzeAir and Cisco Spectrum Expert, enabling users to view both Wi-Fi and Spectrum (layer 1 FFT spectrum plot) data during a single capture session giving them the most complete view of the wireless environment possible. Users can obtain a list of detected non Wi-Fi interfering devices such as Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, microwave ovens, RF Jammers, etc. and monitor the channels affected, power capabilities & duty cycle of each interfering source.
The AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer decodes the most popular protocols such as FTP, HTTP, SMTP, POP, and Telnet, with advanced filtering options that allows users to focus on particular conversations based on IP address or port number.
Yes. AirMagnet WiFi's wired co-relation feature available in the PRO version enables detection of rogue APs that are connected to the corporate wired network.
AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer's Find Tool locks onto any rogue AP or station and can guide you to their physical location.
AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer can monitor modern wireless networks, including correlation of multiple security/performance issues for a single infrastructure vendor (Cisco, Aruba, etc.) Access Point.
AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer provides the following tools to solve wireless problems:
- Site Survey (WiFi Analyzer PRO only) - AirMagnet's site survey tool allows users to perform a detailed continuous site survey, and then export the collected data to a variety of file formats. The Site Survey tool also allows users to log events such as changes in the AP, signal strength, connection speed, as well as the ability to log by time interval and by physical location.
- Coverage Tool (WiFi Analyzer PRO only) - AirMagnet's coverage tool allows users to visualize what percentage of their network conforms to established service levels. This allows IT to set custom SLAs, and provide proof that the SLAs are actually met.
- Signal Distribution Tool (WiFi Analyzer PRO only) - AirMagnet's Signal Distribution tool measures very rapid fluctuations in signal quality and allows users to identify malfunctioning APs and detect potential multi-path interference for a client station.
- Diagnostic (WiFi Analyzer PRO only) - AirMagnet's Diagnostic tool provides a utility to diagnose the connection between any station and any AP in the environment. The AirMagnet Diagnostic tool identifies mismatched configurations, such as SSIDs, WEP keys, transmission rates, preamble, or RF channels. It also helps isolate the problem to the specific step in the association process where the connection is failing.
- Connection Test - AirMagnet's Connection test tool provides built in tools (DHCP, ping, trace and whois) to help network professionals diagnose and resolve connectivity issues in the network and find the registration information about a registered Website from the server that serves the site.
- Roaming Tool (WiFi Analyzer PRO only) - AirMagnet's Roaming tool measures the time required for clients to roam between multiple APs.
